I didn’t realize 2016 was such a big year until I created this post ???? At the time, it just felt like adventure. Plane tickets. Teaching jobs. New countries. New foods. But looking back? It was the year I was grieving. The year I fell in love with photographing people. The year I learned to trust my intuition. The year we came home at exactly the right time. The year Ryan proposed. I didn’t have a business plan. I didn’t have clarity. I didn’t have a five-year roadmap. I just kept following my bliss. And that one year quietly shaped the next decade of my life. It’s wild how the seasons that feel uncertain… are often the ones building your foundation. If you’re in a season right now where you don’t fully see the “why” yet …. keep going. Thanks 2016????

Most photographers don’t lose sales because of pricing. They lose them because they leak authority during the conversation. The truth is, I don’t prep before a sales call. I focus on building connection, leading, asking the right questions, and listening during the call ???? Here are 3 ways photographers leak confidence (and lose the booking) ???? MISTAKE #1️⃣ Overexplaining or Over-offering If you’ve led the call well, you should know exactly which ONE offer fits them. Sell that one. Not three packages. Not “I’ll send everything over.” When you’re confident in your value, you don’t hide behind options. Clarity = confidence. Confidence = trust. MISTAKE #2️⃣ Not Leading the Conversation From minute one, I lead. I tell them how the call will go: Connect → Questions → Recommendation → Pricing → Next steps. Because confident photographers don’t wait to be directed. They guide. Some of the questions to always ask: ✨ What’s your 1–3 year big business vision? ✨ Where will these photos live and be used? ✨ Do you love your current brand + website? ✨ What did you love or not love about your last photoshoot? ✨ Do you feel confident choosing your own wardrobe, or do you want support from a stylist? Diagnose. Ease their hesitations. Then confidently recommend. That’s leadership. MISTAKE #3️⃣ Being in Their Wallet Before every call, I check my energy and step into an abundant mindset. I always assume money is no issue. Never assume what someone can or can’t invest. If you’re secretly thinking: “This might be too expensive for them…” “I should downplay this…” You’ve already lost the sale. And if you don’t sound fully confident in what you bring to the table… Why would they invest? Confidence in your pricing is felt. Photographers — where do you feel wobbly? 1️⃣ Recommending one offer 2️⃣ Leading the call 3️⃣ Standing firm in your pricing Drop the number ???? If I’m being honest… when I first started my business, I thought authority meant having a big audience and lots of followers. But here’s what actually happened…in my first year of business, 4 people referred me in one single thread. Not because I was “Insta-famous.” Not because I had mastered everything (I didn’t even use lighting or book styled locations back then). Not because my brand colors and logo were perfect (they were actually embarrassing ????). But because I was clear. I was confident in my value. And I was visible in the right rooms. Authority isn’t popularity. Authority is being the go-to solution. Being the one people book. Being the one people refer. Being the one people rave about even when you’re not in the room. And the truth? Authority is wildly misunderstood in marketing. There are simple shifts you can make in how you show up that instantly build trust with your ideal clients… so you’re the one they feel confident handing their credit card over to. The one they feel safe on camera with ???? The one they don’t hesitate to invest in. That’s what the Authority Reset is about. Not chasing algorithms. Not trying to go viral. What are you RICH in? ???? ????It’s never the money we really want. It’s what we believe we will feel when we have the money. It’s the freedom, resources, and experiences money can buy. ????????????????One of the greatest ways my business has served me is giving me the luxury of freedom to create my own schedule. Freedom to spend extra days with my kids as they grow up. Freedom to take weekends off and celebrate life with the people I love. ????The other way entrepreneurship has served me is getting to do work that I truly love. I know not everyone is as fortunate. ????I love having an online brand because I get to impact people all over the world on a large scale. Making a difference in other businesses owners lives is so fulfilling. No matter how much money we make, we get to focus on and celebrate all the ways we already are rich and abundant.
