I started Tahitian dance 16 months ago, and performed on stage for the 3rd time this weekend! I never saw myself as a dancer, even though I did musical theatre in high school, I was more confident with singing and acting. I felt a little nervous to start, but I’m so glad I did because now I’ve found a new love for dance, something to continue improving at, and an amazing Polynesian dance community. ???? From start to finish, here’s what it was like preparing the night before and day of, for our Ho’ike (a showcase of culture, dance, tradition, etc.) performing in an Aparima (traditional Tahitian dance with storytelling through hand and body movements) and an Ō’tea (traditional Tahitian dance characterized by fast rhythmic hip movements to the beat of drums or percussion instruments). How I Straighten My Hair! ???? If you’ve ever wondered why my arms look toned… it’s from styling my hair, and maybe genetics. I’ve been growing my hair out for the past few years, and this is how I style my hair when I wear it straighten it before I curl it! As my hair started getting longer, wearing my hair straight (more often) makes it so much easier in the mornings, and I love how it shows the full length. I typically only wear it like this for a week, and try to limit re-straightening it at all during that week, so that my hair stays healthy. Besides that, I put oil on it daily and use a bonnet at night to preserve the style. ♡ How long does it take you to straighten your hair? Spontaneously decided to go to Canada, because I wanted to experience somewhere cold & Winter-y during the Fall/Winter season and Vancouver did NOT disappoint! I loved the cold, crisp weather — the AMAZING food, and the lovely residents! SAKU — for the BEST tonkatsu ???????? @sakucanada Ramen Danbo — for AMAZING & authentic tonkotsu ramen @ramendanbo_usa Blue Horizon — our hotel was SO lovely, super spacious, in a perfect location and affordable @bluehorizonhotel The train — I just love traveling by train especially when it feels safe, easy, & convenient! Robson St./Downtown Vancouver Area — loved walking around the neighborhood (felt like a perfect fall/winter vibe) and the Main Street near our hotel! They had a hello kitty cafe, a Japanese convenience store, and a ton of amazing restaurants and cafes! I felt so lucky! ???????? also, loved how diverse it was in Vancouver!
