Sharing an excerpt from my weekly newsletter: The Mid-Week Coffee Break, to answer a FAQ: If I listen to my body, will I ever *want* to push myself outside of my comfort zone? See also; will I ever want to intuitively challenge myself? . Short answer: I don't know. Long, nuanced answer: There are SO many things can disrupt our sense of safety when it comes to movement and exercise. Whether it be a trauma, systemic oppression (this deserves its own post), or the anxiety that comes with just trying something new; when our sense of safety is at risk, being a human living within our body is often challenge enough. . I think when we seek out truly enriching and satisfying forms of movement *and* can support ourselves (and seek support) both physically and emotionally, the desire for challenge will come by way of our curiosity. . What would it feel like to try... I wonder if I can... Wouldn't it be amazing if I... . Giving ourselves the grace to 'stay within our comfort zone" does not mean that we are weak or lazy. It simply means that we are giving ourselves the support our body is asking for. Only once we feel truly safe are we able to get curious enough to start taking risks. Thoughts? I'd love to hear them in the comments! . Want to dig deeper into this topic? Join my upcoming group coaching program: Redefine Your Relationship with Exercise. June Bug is ONE! You are such a bright light and truly bring joy wherever you go. As much as I don’t want you to grow up, it has been an honor to witness. We love you ❤️❤️❤️.

Today marks 7 years without my dad ????. And on this day last year I was rocking Jack to sleep the night before a long awaited surgery. I was (obviously) incredibly anxious and I called upon my dad, asking him for strength and to take care of Jack. That night he came to me in a dream, and clear as day walked into the room and said “Hey Jess” with a nod. And that was it. It was all I needed (and J did awesome). I will always grieve that he can’t be physically here with us, but I am grateful for the times I can feel his presence. Sometimes it’s in less profound ways… like another dream I had where I went into a Dunkin Donuts to see him working there and he said “don’t tell mom” ????. (Also if you ever have dreams of your loved ones that passed it’s very trippy because they are alive but also you know they are actually not in the dream, so it’s very confusing, is this true for everyone?). ❤️❤️❤️

2024. Highs and lows but mostly really beautiful in-betweens, which in looking back, were some of my favorite moments of this year. Also this took me longer to make than I’d like to admit ????.

An excerpt from this week’s newsletter! Subscribe via link in profile????????‍????. . Last night I started the latest round of my Redefine Your Relationship with Exercise group coaching program and this "never enough" feeling came up for a lot of folks, myself included, specifically around exercise. . Like, if we rest, we feel like we're not exercising enough. And if we exercise, we still feel like we're not exercising enough. . Diet culture has conditioned us to believe that exercise has to be rigid, structured, and intense. And oh yeah, it should also change the size and shape of our body. If that is our measure for enough, then yes, we might always fall short. And even if your exercise routine does meet all of these criteria? Your inner critic or tracking device might still bully you into believing it's not enough. We can't win. . If you’re struggling with this, try this journaling prompt: Next time that not enough feeling comes up with exercise, ask yourself: What if this, what I'm doing right now, is enough? What does it feel like? Take some time to write down the thoughts and feelings that come up. Or, share them with me in the comments below! I’d love to hear them. . #exercise #personaltraining #coaching #movement #iamenough #rest #dietitian

When I found out I was pregnant again I was scared… then excited… then overcome with an overwhelming desire to experience the Eras Tour before I gave birth again ????. Thanks to my mom, self proclaimed “Swifty Over 50” for making the whole thing happen, a whirlwind 72 hours in London. And of course my husband and amazing mother in law for holding down the fort so I could leave Jack and Frank for a few days without worry. Special shout out to my bladder for holding up for the entire 3.5 hour show. We miraculously got inside the stadium right as Taylor popped out and didn’t have to miss a note for a bathroom break. The time truly flew by. We also got to see Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, the longest running play, eat at @nopi_restaurant , explore Burroughs Market and I was excited that most places had NA wine and beer. Sadly I believe that was the last of the energy I had and will be taking it easy (as easy as one can with a toddler) the rest of my last trimester ????.
