Building and maintaining my legs without gaining a bunch of body fat happens in phases. I don’t stay in a cut year round. I build… then I refine. I teach this to my clients as well! When I want to grow: • Small calorie surplus AND I TRACK EVERYTHING • Heavy progressive overload ON LEG DAYS • I prioritize 1 conditioning day • High protein every single day When it’s time to lean out: • Slight calorie deficit • Keep lifting heavy • Add steps/cardio before slashing more food • Stay patient and consistent If you are a woman please realize the scale is not the full story. You also need SOME body fat, being toooo low for toooo long can bring long term health problems! For reference: I stay about 16-18% when I’m cutting 19-22% when I’m building Our hormones fluctuate. Water retention is real. Your weight can shift day to day and week to week without it being FAT GAIN. I’ve learned to stop reacting emotionally to the scale and you should too! Not going to lie.. seeing my inbody scan stay the same messed with my head a little. I’m proud of where I’m at, but I want more.. And if I’m being honest, I know exactly what I need to do. My trainer’s given me every tool. It’s on ME now. When I look at these photos.. two years apart… the difference is obvious. FULLER glutes. STRONGER shape. REAL progress. As much as I love building muscle and growing my legs… I also prioritize my HIIT/athletic training! Movement is my MEDICINE ???? If you don’t have a VERTIMAX or a slide hammy roller that’s fine you can use either a resistance band OR sliders to mimic the same MOVEMENT patterns. I aim for higher reps on these sessions and for my squats and compound movements I aim for higher reps with a focus on form, depth, and tempo! We just wrapped up our #FitForFall 28 day challenge last week and the waistlines SHOWED OUT! Here are just a few of the results from the challenge (more to post soon) ???? Each of these ladies showed great results on their measurements/body scans, they made consistent HABIT changes, and they showed up on their STEPS! It was easy for me to see the direct reflection of their consistency in their progress/results. My clients and I have been LOVING this variation of the single leg pendulum squat. I do enjoy using the TRX straps and particularly the Zercher grip. If this grip is a challenge for you, it is fine to hold the handles just make sure to shorten them so that you can lean back into the movement! This movement takes a lot of pressure off of the knees and it gives you more range than what I could accomplish with a wedge. My glutes and my core were SO SORE ???????? A little effort in the set up, but it’s sooooooo worth it. **If it is hard for you to perform this without the bench moving, put a plate in front of it. This LEG DAY did not disappoint (MY CRAZY HAIR SAYS IT ALLLLLL ????)! Here are a few moves you can integrate on your next lower body day. 1. Belt Squat Banded Sumo Deads- 5 sets of 8-12 reps (I went heavy here and enjoyed the banded resistance) 2. Step Ups (Belt Squat): 3 sets of 10-12 reps per leg *Aim for a full range of motion and a deep stretch with the back leg. THESE ARE HARDDD even without extra weight added ???? 3. Nordic Curls (with band): 4 sets of 10 *Perform slowly to maximize tension on your hamstrings 4. Side Lying Hip Abductions (Booty Builder Machine): 4 sets of 15 reps *Keep your movements controlled; these target the glutes and the added light weight IS A BURNER. 5.
