We just wrapped up our #FitForFall 28 day challenge last week and the waistlines SHOWED OUT! Here are just a few of the results from the challenge (more to post soon) ???? Each of these ladies showed great results on their measurements/body scans, they made consistent HABIT changes, and they showed up on their STEPS! It was easy for me to see the direct reflection of their consistency in their progress/results. This challenge we focused on an increase in MOVEMENT and I am super proud of the BEYOND BODIES GIRLS ????????????‍????⚡️ I am also proud of all of you who did the challenge and didn’t take pics, I saw some amazing scans last week and I can’t wait to keep up the energy! My clients and I have been LOVING this variation of the single leg pendulum squat. I do enjoy using the TRX straps and particularly the Zercher grip. If this grip is a challenge for you, it is fine to hold the handles just make sure to shorten them so that you can lean back into the movement! This movement takes a lot of pressure off of the knees and it gives you more range than what I could accomplish with a wedge. My glutes and my core were SO SORE ???????? A little effort in the set up, but it’s sooooooo worth it. **If it is hard for you to perform this without the bench moving, put a plate in front of it. This LEG DAY did not disappoint (MY CRAZY HAIR SAYS IT ALLLLLL ????)! Here are a few moves you can integrate on your next lower body day. 1. Belt Squat Banded Sumo Deads- 5 sets of 8-12 reps (I went heavy here and enjoyed the banded resistance) 2. Step Ups (Belt Squat): 3 sets of 10-12 reps per leg *Aim for a full range of motion and a deep stretch with the back leg. THESE ARE HARDDD even without extra weight added ???? 3. Nordic Curls (with band): 4 sets of 10 *Perform slowly to maximize tension on your hamstrings 4. Side Lying Hip Abductions (Booty Builder Machine): 4 sets of 15 reps *Keep your movements controlled; these target the glutes and the added light weight IS A BURNER. 5. Compliments can sometimes carry unintended weight, especially for women who have faced challenges/traumas. It’s essential to recognize that our words MATTER! Comments like ‘You’re lucky your body responds well’ can unintentionally diminish the hard work and struggles someone has faced on their journey. Comparison can be so so sooooo toxic. Labeling someone as ‘skinny’ who may have struggled with an eating disorder, or calling someone ‘thick’ without knowing their personal story, can be hurtful and dismissive of their traumas/pain. You don’t know anything about them internally based on APPEARANCE alone. As women, we can inspire each other by adjusting how we speak. Instead of comparing journeys or making assumptions based on appearance, let’s focus on supporting one another with thoughtful compliments that recognize a woman’s effort and individuality. Here are some examples that I use and love (make them your own): - Your commitment to your health is sooo inspiring -Wow you are in great shape! -I see your hard work; it shows! -Your positivity in workouts are contagious! - I love how you embrace your journey; it’s so beautiful. -I love your muscles -Your physique is incredible -You go girl, you’re killing it in the gym (my fav) Let’s work on celebrating each woman’s unique journey without comparison. This leg workout is designed for every level, pick weights that challenge you and try it out. I started with a 20 min warm up and I ended my workout with kick backs and abductions (not shown here). Our mind will often stop a set before our legs do…I enjoy driving my legs past the point I think they can go. This workout was all about reaching and finding FAILURE. For this workout, I started with warm up sets for each movement and then I found weights that felt challenging, yet they were light ENOUGH for me to get into a higher rep range. Adjust the load as needed, focus on control, and commit to pushing through every rep. FAILURE IS NOT BAD.
